Join us for Gretna Kids Playhouse's Summer Theatre Workshop 2026! (Have a teen who loves the stage? We'd love them to join us for our teen session in June - ages 12-16! ) For two weeks, young performers will study the craft of acting through theatre games, professional-led coaching sessions, and rehearsals - all culminating in two performances of ArtReach’s delightful retelling of Kenneth Grahame’s The Reluctant Dragon - the inspiration for How to Train Your Dragon! At GKP, all performers have their moment in the spotlight, regardless of experience or skill level.
The workshop will be held at the Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts (Huey P. Long Ave. and 4th St.) and is open to performers ages 6-11. The workshop runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, July 13-24. We will have two performances of the show on Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Actors must be available to participate in BOTH performances.
A t-shirt will be provided with registration. Additional t-shirts will be available for purchase. Performers are expected to wear their camp shirts onstage.

Regarding payment: A discounted sibling rate of $250 is available for families with two or more participating children with the purchase of one child at the regular $275 rate. Use promo code Add1Child for each additional child in either session.
After submitting payment, you will be provided a link to access the camper info registration form, which must be completed for each child in order to finalize your reservations.
Regarding participant cancellations: The fee consists of a $100 NONREFUNDABLE deposit + a balance that is refundable until 6/15/2025. No refunds for this session will be issued after 6/15. Should you need to cancel prior to 6/15, please call 504-363-1500 to request the refundable portion of your registration, which will be processed within 5 business days.
The City of Gretna reserves the right to cancel the workshop on or before 6/15/25. Should workshop cancellation occur, GKP families will be refunded in full for the cancelled session.
A need-based scholarship will be available to one participant, thanks to the generosity of the Post Backstage. Deadline for application is May 20. You will find the scholarship application here.
