About this Event
The Young Ohio Preservationists are hosting a Cemetery Preservation Workshop at the architecturally significant Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio on May 3rd, 2025. This in-depth workshop will include a two-part training from Krista Horrocks with the Ohio State Historic Preservation Office.
The workshop will begin at 9:30 A.M. with a presentation about the history and significance of Green Lawn Cemetery, followed by a training on cemetery preservation practices. Attendees will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience following the presentation - working within the cemetery to help preserve gravestones. Registration is free but limited. Young professionals in the historic preservation field are encouraged to attend, but all are welcome.
The workshop will be held from 9:30-12:00, on May 3, 2025. Attendees will meet in the chapel of the cemetery and may park in the drive in front of the chapel or along the roadways nearby. Coffee and pastries will be provided to enjoy during the presentation. As this is a hands-on training, please wear close-toed shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy! If you have gloves and eye protection that you would like to bring, it is recommended. There will also be some provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
