Join the City of Westfield's Parks and Recreation Department for their annual Green Day celebration presented by Williams Creek on Saturday, April 25 in Grand Junction Plaza from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.! This family-friendly program combines the celebration of Earth and Arbor Day observances. This is free and open to the public. We are also thankful for the support of Visit Hamilton County and Greater Indy Trailways.
What To Expect
Activities will include local organizations and vendors sharing tips and techniques that highlight green practices and initiatives to practice at home and around the community. Topics will include soils, trees, water, invasive species and more! The City of Westfield will be giving away free native tree saplings, while supplies last, courtesy of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The Westfield High School’s National Honor Society and Environmental Club will be facilitating the following activities:
- A "Seedling Station" activity, where participants can decorate a pot, plant a seed, and take it home to watch it grow.
- A UV pony bead bracelet activity.
- A craft activity to watch solar power in action (while supplies last).
Join Indiana Jim and Python Pam on a trip into the fascinating world of reptiles and amphibians! Their interactive and educational program features animals from Indiana and around the world. Hear, see, and touch some of the world's most misunderstood animals in the Cafe Pavilion Building at Grand Junction Plaza.
The second annual Rubber Duck Race is free to enter and will take place at 12:45 p.m. at the Grassy Branch Creek and Wetland Amphitheatre at Grand Junction Plaza.
How to Enter:
- Pick up a scavenger hunt card from the Grand Junction Plaza information tent and use the clues to get stamps from different vendors throughout the plaza.
- Once your scavenger hunt card has been completed, turn it back into the Grand Junction Plaza information tent to pick out your rubber duck.
- Each rubber duck will have a number written on the bottom. Make a note of the number on your duck and get ready to watch the race from the Wetland Amphitheatre!
- All of the rubber ducks entered in the race will be dropped into the Grassy Branch Creek at 12:45 p.m., and the fastest duck to reach the end of the creek will be the lucky winner!
