– Elevation Gain: 5,200 feet
– Meeting Point: Starbucks Bonita, corner of Bonita Road and Central Avenue
– Start Time: 8:00 AM PST
– Ride Type: Little Gear intervals and advanced pace-lining—focused on increasing aerobic capacity and enhancing group dynamics. This week’s ride prepares you for the sustained efforts and tactical coordination needed in competitive events.
The 2024 GWTP, with over 30 years of history, remains a cornerstone for cyclists from San Diego, Mexico, and beyond. Led by USA Cycling Level 1 certified coach, Gilberto Cortez, the program emphasizes structured, progressive training designed to prepare riders for the demands of the racing season.
What to Expect in Week 7:
– Continued "Little Gear" intervals to build endurance and develop aerobic strength.
– Advanced pace-lining techniques to refine group riding skills and efficiency.
– A challenging yet supportive environment with guidance from Coach Gilberto and Assistant Coach Jacobo Melcer, helping you progress and achieve your best.
Important Information:
– Please bring enough water, nutrition, and any gear you might need for a 4-hour ride.
– Neutral support will be available for basic mechanical assistance if needed.
– Weather conditions may affect the event. Notifications will be posted on the Facebook page the day before the ride if any changes occur.
