Join us for the final ride of the 2024 Great Western Training Program (GWTP)! In this last session, we’ll conduct a "Time to Exhaustion" (TTE) individual full-course practice, designed to test your stamina and strength. This ride brings together all the skills and endurance developed throughout the program, providing you with a final opportunity to push your limits and experience the full intensity of a competitive event. Whether you’ve been part of every ride or are joining us for this grand finale, this session will challenge you to perform at your best.Details:
– Distance: 62 miles
– Elevation Gain: 5,200 feet
– Meeting Point: Starbucks Bonita, corner of Bonita Road and Central Avenue
– Start Time: 8:00 AM PST
– Ride Type: TTE individual full-course practice—focused on testing your endurance and power over the entire route. This ride is the culmination of all your training efforts, pushing you to achieve your peak performance.
The 2024 GWTP has successfully brought cyclists together from San Diego, Mexico, and beyond, continuing a legacy that spans over 30 years. Led by USA Cycling Level 1 certified coach, Gilberto Cortez, the program uses a structured and progressive approach to ensure participants reach their full potential as they prepare for the racing season.
What to Expect in Week 9:
– A "Time to Exhaustion" (TTE) ride, where you’ll challenge yourself over the entire course, testing your stamina and power.
– A comprehensive opportunity to put all the skills developed throughout the program into practice.
– Support and encouragement from Coach Gilberto and Assistant Coach Jacobo Melcer as they guide you through this challenging and rewarding session.
Important Information:
– Please bring enough water, nutrition, and any gear you might need for a 4-hour ride.
– Neutral support will be available for basic mechanical assistance if needed.
– Weather conditions may affect the event. Notifications will be posted on the Facebook page the day before the ride if any changes occur.
