Please RSVP (Gov gig gang) David McCormack and The Polaroids are a Sydney-based indie-folk band known for their soulful soundscapes and poetic lyrics 🎸. Fronted by singer-songwriter David McCormack, the group's music often explores themes of love, space travel, nostalgia, and the human condition, all wrapped in a warm, electric package that's equal parts folk, rock, and Australiana. With a sound that's both introspective and universally relatable, they've built a loyal following in Australia's music scene and are making waves beyond.
Double J Radio called them “an Australian supergroup”. Victoria is a band of long-time friends: Cameron Emerson-Elliott (Youth Group), Alison Galloway (Smudge), Patrick Matthews (The Vines, Youth Group) and Max Doyle (Songs).
The band’s trio of songwriters, Max, Cam, and Pat, draw inspiration from the Kinks (whose song inspired their name), 80s/90s era Flying Nun bands, and contemporary Australian groups like Dick Diver.
Victoria’s strength lies in their effortless ability to paint an evocative lyrical picture and set it to a memorable toe-tapping tune. “We felt that there was a bit of a dearth of indie rock bands making catchy songs with an overabundance of words at the moment,” says Matthews. “So, we thought we’d give it a go.”
