About this Event
Peter Gelding will take you on a guided walk along the Louise Clews Walkway where you can find several species of birds, such as the gorgeous Yellow Eastern Robin above, photographed by Peter Gelding. Peter is known for his sighting of the Regent Honey-eater & bird walks around Springfield Lakes.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes as we will be walking approximately 4 km along a concrete path. It is recommended to wear a sun hat & suitable dark clothing for bird watching. We will meet at the BBQ picnic shelter in the Opossum Parklands at 7.30am & will depart shortly after along the track. There is a small carpark off Scoparia Drive Brookwater & extra on street car parking please park on the left hand side next to the vacant alotment so residents & other traffic can pass easily when leaving.
BYO water bottle, binoculars, and cameras if you wish to get some photographs of birds. The toilets are at the start of the walk. SLNC will provide Tea Coffee morning tea after the completion of the bird walk. Birdwalks of Greater Springfield Booklet, containing maps of 6 popular bird walks & 64 photographs of just some of the birds found in our catchment. The Birdwalk booklets are available for sale for $2 & Birds of South East Qld book $20 can be purchased using cash or debit card.
You may wish to join the Great Southern Bioblitz 2024 project folder on iNaturalist to upload you bird images or other flora or fauna you find along the walk, as koalas, wallabies or reptiles like goanas are sometimes seen in the morning.
