Artists are invited to submit entries for the upcoming Great Southern Art Award. This exhibition will be presented over both floors of the Albany Town Hall during the 2026 Easter period.
Celebrating creativity, innovation, and artistic excellence within our region, this award offers a professional platform for artists to showcase their talent to a wider audience. The award is open to established, emerging and young artists who reside in the Great Southern. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or just beginning your creative journey, we welcome diverse perspectives and practices in all visual art forms.
This will be broken down into the first 80 in the 18 and over age group and the first 40 for the under 18 age group.
There are over $10,000 worth of prizes with multiple award categories for both youth and adults.

Entry process:
Entries open 12 Jan 2026, 10am via the Arts & Culture website: https://artsandculture.albany.wa.gov.au/exhibitions-events/great-southern-art-award
Entries close 6 March 2026, 5pm or whenever the maximum capacity of 120 entries is reached; whichever occurs sooner.
• For anyone without access to the internet or who needs assistance to enter online, please enquire in person at the Vancouver Arts Centre or Albany Town Hall.
• Only the first 120 applications will be accepted into the GSAA in 2026. This will be broken down into the first 80 for 18yrs and over and the first 40 for 5-18 year olds.
• You will receive a confirmation email once your submission has been received.
• By submitting a completed entry form, you are agreeing to the conditions of entry.
• Changes to your entry will not be accepted.

• $40 for 18years and over
• $10 for under 18 years

Exhibition Details:
Venue -Albany Town Hall – Downstairs galleries and upstairs Auditorium
In 2026 the GSAA will take over the entire Town Hall, utilising the upstairs gallery as well as the downstairs space. The exhibition is open to artists from as young as 5 and artworks will be spread over the two floors based on visual aesthetics.

Awards :
On the application form you will be asked to select which category you would like to enter. All entrants are automatically entered into the popular choice award.

• City of Albany Acquisitive Award - $5,000 NB: this prize is open to all entrants, and you are also eligible to enter one of the other awards within your age group
• Painting Award -2D - $1,000
• Works on Paper Award -2D - $1,000
• Print Award – 2D - $1,000
• First Nations Award- 2D & 3D - $1,000
• 3-D Award - $1,000
• Best 2D artwork Under 12 years of age - $150
• Best 3D artwork Under 12 years of age - $150
• Best 2D artwork 12-18 years of age - $250
• Best 3D artwork 12-18 years of age - $250
• Popular Choice Award - $500
• Popular choice under 12 – $150
• Popular choice 12 -18 – $250
Under 18 winners will be awarded vouchers to the specified values
