Join us for another Great North Night where we uncover hidden architecture of cities past & present and explore form and function through culture, design and artefacts.
LISTEN: DJ Awkward Black Girl will open the event in style with some classic and contemporary tunes.
LISTEN: A performance from The Mind & The Muse festival using Ancient music instruments & techniques.
LISTEN: to Adam Soper’s contemporary blend of environmental sounds combined with digital instruments, electric & acoustic guitar, hydrophone recordings combined with VLF radio recordings and EMF microphones.
TRY: Take part in some Pooki press printing activities with the team from the Farrell Centre. The Architecture degree show is also on this evening so why not go visit after the Great North Night.
TRY: Join Academic and designer Dr Steph Holton as she introduces you to her exhibition PSYCHE: Where does the soul go? and shows you how to make your very own underworld puppets to take home.
TRY: Investigate the Urban nature project with Jo McSwaine from the Great North Museum: Hancock learning team.
TRY: Make a Roman artefact inspired badge with Morgan Fail from the Great North Museum: Hancock learning team.
TRY: Cocktails, bar, pizza and Beer from Stu Brew, Newcastle Universities' student run brewery
DISCOVER: Professor Ian Haynes will be giving short introductory presentations of the new Rome Transformed exhibition with an opportunity to ask questions about the research and technology on display.
DISCOVER: Gianluca Foschi will demonstrate some of the technological methods seen in the Rome Transformed exhibition such as terrestrial laser scanning of buildings, object scanning with white light scanner.
DISCOVER: Emeritus Professor Martin Ward introduces you to the form and function of the James Webb Space Telescope.
DISCOVER: Hazel Barron Cooper presents some of her Phd research on the hidden menageries of Northeast churches.
DISCOVER: The Northumbrian night sky in the Planetarium chill out space.
DISCOVER: Dr Caroline Smith and Andrew Agate, Northeast Finds Liaison Officers discuss the identification process of current Archaeological finds.
DISCOVER: Local Architect firm, Xsite Architects, introduce you to some of their current projects and discuss how they think about impact, form and function when designing spaces.

Great North Nights events are developed for adult audiences, not children, and they are occasions for people to enjoy the museum after hours.
The themes and content of these events are as such not necessarily suitable for children.
