About this Event
Catalysing market-based restoration for Africa's drylands:
A pathway to resilience and inclusive prosperity
Join us at the crossroads of Private Investment and Development Aid
We are pleased to inform you that the African Union Commission’s Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment, in collaboration with FAGRIB & Partners, is organising the 2nd Edition of the GGWI Private Sector Engagement and Growth Forum (GGWI-PSF). This event is scheduled to take place immediately after the African Union 38th Ordinary Head of State Summit slated between 15th February and the beginning of March 2025. The forum will take place from 5th to 7th March 2025.
We will engage high-level African policymakers in this event, which will mark a ‘turning point’ for large-scale land restoration on the continent of Africa. The objective is to demonstrate that land restoration and the combat against desertification offer compelling business opportunities, with the private sector playing a key role in driving progress.
The private sector actors are integral to the success of initiatives such as Great Green Wall and other restoration programs. By showcasing business cases, we can strengthen capacity of Member States and accelerate implementation.
This landmark event will serve as a platform where the private sector and developmental aid converge to unlock new opportunities within business ecosystems. The goal is to reshape the narrative on social, economic, and environmental impacts by leveraging innovative approaches from both public and private sectors.
Retailers, manufacturers, and investors alike will have the chance to discover new products, form strategic partnerships, and contribute to the global push for net-zero emissions.
Why Attend?
The GGWI is transforming Africa’s drylands into highly attractive business environments, creating millions of green jobs and sequestering millions of tons of carbon, while restoring vast areas of degraded land. The Trade Show will provide a unique opportunity to explore these business opportunities, engage with key decision-makers, and connect with like-minded organisations leading the way in market-based restoration.
The event will showcase groundbreaking opportunities for public-private partnerships, where developmental aid is de-risking ecosystems to make them highly attractive for private investment. By uniting the innovation of the private sector with the reach of developmental aid, we are fostering an environment that drives social, economic, and environmental transformation across Africa’s drylands.
