Gray Cemetery Cleanup & Preservation

Community Call: Join Us for a Historic Cemetery Cleanup & Preservation Project 🪦

Several organizations have partnered on an America 250 Project, Finding the Lost Patriots of Madison County, to restore and preserve the historic Gray Cemetery in Madison, Alabama.

This important effort will prepare the site for Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) mapping, which will help locate unmarked graves and buried headstones. Some of those buried here are also Revolutionary War veterans, and this project ensures their service, sacrifice, and history are properly recognized, documented, and honored.

📍 Gray Cemetery (behind Balch Self Storage)

325 Balch Road, Madison, AL 35758

Volunteer Task:

We will be removing leaves to allow accurate GPR scanning. This step is critical to the success of the project.

What to Bring:

✔ Rakes

✔ Leaf blowers

✔ Work gloves

✔ Tarps (for dragging leaves)

✔ Bottled water

✔ Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

🌧 If it rains, the project will be rescheduled for March 21st.

This is a powerful opportunity to come together as a community to preserve history, honor veterans, and restore dignity to those laid to rest.
