Songs to Phil the Air invites fans to experience the music of The Grateful Dead in new and exciting ways, all while maintaining the spirit and essence of the original compositions. Emerging from a shared passion for their timeless music, Songs to Phil the Air is an innovative tribute project that celebrates the legacy of this iconic band through a unique lens.

Founded in 2024, this annual collaborative event brings together a diverse array of talented musicians to honor not just the beloved catalog of the Grateful Dead, but also the extensive repertoire of bassist Phil Lesh and his various iterations of Phil and Friends. The inaugural event featured an extraordinary lineup of core contributors, including Douglas Kerr on drums, Gord Kushner & Brad Tidswell on guitars, Gary Bulloch on bass, and Matt Wolfsohn on keyboards. These skilled musicians return for a 2026 show at The BAG, joined by an impressive slate of guest artists, each bringing their own unique energy and creativity to both classic favorites and lesser-known gems.

At 8pm February 7 at the Brackendale Art Gallery, Songs to Phil the Air promises an unforgettable night of music that transcends time, connecting generations of fans through the universal language of improvisation and collaboration. With more details to be announced, audiences can expect an extraordinary experience that honors the legacy of the Grateful Dead while pushing musical boundaries into new territories.

As Songs to Phil the Air continues to grow, it embodies a vibrant community of artists dedicated to celebrating the spirit of adventure in music, ensuring that the influence of the Grateful Dead and Phil Lesh remains alive and well for years to come.
