The graphic novel adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's Kindred follows the story of Dana, a young Black woman in 1976 California who is inexplicably transported back in time to the antebellum South. She becomes entangled with a white slaveholder named Rufus—one of her own ancestors—and must repeatedly save his life to ensure her own future existence.
