About this Event
Mark your calendars, our mid-summer tasting for the Grapevine Wine Tasting Group is July 10 at 7 pm. The wine to be tasted is appropriate for warm summer afternoons and an aperitif before dinner – Sauvignon Blanc.
Sauvignon Blanc is made practically in every corner of the winemaking world. New Zealand, France, Italy and California are the easiest places to find examples. They are also very reasonably priced. Usually made to be drunk young – this white wine is fresh and can evoke aromas of fruit to a grassy character. We are sure you already have a favorite wine from this varietal, so bring it along and see how it compares with your neighbor’s choice!
As a reminder, the tastings follow a familiar format. Each person (not each couple) will bring a bottle of the featured wine to the tastings. Wine glasses, tableware, bread, cheese, and wine-tasting sheets will be provided by the Club in exchange for a fee of $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Attendees will be seated at tables of five to six people. You are welcome to specify if you wish to sit with friends. Often those requests can be accommodated.
There was a small, but enthusiastic turnout for our May tasting. Many of our usual participants were traveling or otherwise unavailable. Those who did attend had a convivial discussion about a variety of topics, including admiring the attributes of the favored wine of the evening – a Merlot from Markham Winery in Napa Valley. It cost about $27 purchased at the local Safeway.
