Grange Farm Festival

We have 30 boxes to make to help wild creatures such as owls, bees, bats, and kestrels find a home on Grange Farm. Join us on Sunday June 14th 2026, between 2pm and 7pm, for a day of making, nature, and conviviality.​

We will be:​

• Building wildlife boxes (7+ years)​
• Decorating wildlife boxes (any age) through drawing, painting, light wood carving and sign-making​
• Taking a walk around the farm and installing the boxes (any age)​
• Installing wildlife cameras next to the boxes to monitor their occupation​

Once the boxes are built and installed (around 5pm), we will share a communal meal together. There will be a demonstration of how to make carlin pea hummus (grown on Grange Farm) as a hyper-local alternative to traditional hummus (and tasting of said-hummus of course).​

Please be aware that cats and dogs will be present throughout the farm, along with other farm animals. Please review the FAQs for additional information, notably what to wear and what to bring.

This event is organised as part of an ongoing research project on community participation on farms, in collaboration with Grange Farm, Loughborough University, and Nottingham Trent University. Researchers may take general notes during the activities. When you arrive, we will also ask whether you are happy to take part in a short informal interview and whether you are comfortable being photographed during the event. We will use different coloured name tags to clearly show everyone’s preferences.

Taking part in an interview or being photographed is completely optional. You are very welcome to join the event even if you choose not to take part in the research.
