Grand River Blues Society AGM Celebration with 2024 Memphis IBC Bands
This is the event you don't want to miss! Join us for a Sunday afternoon matinee of incredible blues music as we celebrate our Annual General Meeting concert with acts fresh from the 2024 Memphis International Blues Challenge. The event will be held in the incredible JAZZ ROOM Huether Hotel KITCHENER, so mark your calendars and get ready to groove!
Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train are a blues rock band known for their powerful and dynamic sound that seamlessly blends grace and beauty. Their music takes listeners on a journey through the Mississippi Delta, with stops at Detroit, Motown, and the funky sounds of Philadelphia. With their unique styles deeply rooted in the blues, the band’s original compositions are a testament to their exceptional musical talents. Every performance is a high-energy experience that leaves the audience feeling like they’re at a sold-out stadium show. The band comprises Juno-nominated songwriter Glenn Marais on guitar and vocals, bassist Manny De Grandis, keyboardist Jesse Karwat of I Mother Earth, and drummer Jeff Saulnier. Known for their love of playing and jamming, Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train have a knack for taking songs in new and exciting directions. The band are hard at work completing their new record for a summer 2023 release and recently won the IBC Road to Memphis contest, with the International Contest in Memphis taking place during Jan 2024.

A young blues singer with over a decade of professional
performing experience. A previous semi-finalist in the IBC’s band category, this time
around he is bringing his brand of blues in a raw, honest, stripped-down format. Here is a sound that is both familiar to traditionalists yet refreshing for the modern audience. His performances showcase a broad range of blues styles, owing to his numerous musical influences.

The Trainwrecks are a blues-focused band. These talented musicians found each other through the Grand River Blues Camp and are excited to be able to share their love of the Blues!Together, they won the Kitchener Blues Festival's ‘Youth Legacy’ contest and have recently performed on the main stages of the Kitchener Blues Festival this past August, the Belmont Village Bestival, and other smaller venues. The Trainwrecks give a fresh take on blues classics and are excited to represent the Grand River Blues Society and Canada at the IBC in Memphis as youth participants in Jan 2024!
