Opening Day Kickoff + Ongoing Weekly Programming

Connected Dallas is launching ongoing weekly digital skills programming at the MLK Jr. Branch Library, powered by Dallas Innovation Alliance and supported by AT&T. This location operates just like our Community Anchor Sites (CAS), offering free digital skills workshops and 1:1 tech support to adults in the community.

Join us for a community celebration marking the launch of Connected Dallas programming at MLK. The event will include opening remarks, light bites, partner highlights, and a chance to meet the Connected Dallas team.

Eventbrite registration is for this Opening Day Kickoff event only.
Registration helps us plan for seating and materials during the opening program.

👉 Weekly classes and tech support are open to the public and do NOT require registration.

To celebrate the launch, we will be raffling three (3) laptops during Opening Day.

How to enter:

• Attend the Opening Day Kickoff event
• Stay after the opening remarks to meet the Connected Dallas team during the classroom preview and walkthrough

Raffle winners will be selected onsite.

Following the opening remarks, attendees are invited to:

• Meet the Connected Dallas team and Digital Ambassadors
• Tour the classroom and tech lab space
• Learn about weekly classes, 1:1 tech support, and device programs
• Ask questions and get connected to services

At 11:00 AM, the site officially opens for ongoing public programming.

Every Monday at MLK Jr. Branch Library

🕚 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Get personalized help with:

• Smartphones, tablets, and laptops
• Email, internet navigation, and online forms
• Job applications and resumes
• Telehealth, benefits portals, and city services
• Device setup and troubleshooting

🕛 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Instructor-led classes focused on practical, everyday tech skills, including:

• Computer basics
• Online safety and cybersecurity
• Transportation tools (DART GoPass and more)
• Accessing Texas benefits and community resources
• Additional rotating topics based on community needs.

No registration required. Walk-ins welcome.

Participants who attend Digital Skills Workshops (DSWs) at MLK may qualify for a free laptop through our Learn to Earn initiative.

How it works:

• Attend 8 Digital Skills Workshops
• Complete sessions within 4 months
• Attendance is tracked through a digital sign-in system
• Eligible participants will receive a laptop while supplies last

• Open to all adults (18+)(kids welcomed, must be accompanied by an adult)
• No prior tech experience required
• Free to attend
• Weekly programming does not require registration

Connected Dallas is a citywide initiative powered by Dallas Innovation Alliance that provides free digital skills training, devices, and 1:1 tech support to help Dallas residents access opportunity, services, and economic mobility.

Programming is hosted at the MLK Jr. Branch Library and supported by AT&T.
