Get ready to dive into the vibrant world of gouache painting at Safeway Studios! This is your chance to create bold, beautiful artwork with hands-on guidance from local artist Rebecca Marella. I will bring all the supplies and materials we need, all you need to bring is yourself and something to sip on!
If you want to love water color paint, but you can’t achieve the bright colors and contrast you’re looking for, you may want to try gouache! If you've ever heard of gouache, chances are you’ve wondered what the heck it is, and how it’s pronounced! Loved by illustrators for its bright, juicy pigment, gouache is like a cousin to water color paint with very different properties. I have been painting with gouache for 10+ years, and I love to push its limits.
Whether you're a total newbie or looking to spice up your skills, this in-person event is all about fun, creativity, and colorful expression. Bring your ideas and let's make some magic on paper together!
More about the artist: Rebecca Marella is a multi-disciplinary artist based on the Maine Coast. Rebecca's background is in darkroom printing & analog photography, however she is not only a photographer but a painter, illustrator and a fiber artist. Inspired by the throws of life's unexpected highs and lows, Rebecca weaves together pictures and scenes of sea faring mermaids and oceanic wanderlust. With a more sensitive look, Rebecca's artwork explores a romance with yourself - finding strength, light, and complexity from within even at the darkest of times.
