About this Event
Got To Get Out for a fairly HARD-days hiking? Want some stunning views and fitness leading? Join us!
If you have already done a few hikes , fitness is OK and want to push yourself a bit further, this hike is for you! 13year olds with parental supervision+ are welcome on this trip.
Got To Get Out group founder Robert Bruce (trained guide, wilderness first aid trained, New Zealander of the Year semi-finalist) is driving and guiding this 'there and back' of the Pinnacles summit, starting from the Kauaeranga Valley, Coromandel
This trip will start and finish at our regular meeting spot outside the Cloud (beside the Ferry terminal) downtown Auckland with all transport provided to and from the track start.
We will head to the track start very early in the morning in our modern comfortable mini-bus, smash the hike, go get a snack in Thames, and return the same day for a "there and back" mission.
Schedule as follows:
645am - meet outside the Ferry Terminal Building (be early! 15min, so 630)
7am - Departure in bus after circle of names
8 am - coffee at Bombay BP (*can pickup people from here * )
10am - Start the hike: Pinnacles Hut return (to the summit if you are up to it! Or you can hang out in the hut, eat some food and chill if it's all a bit too much).
(lunch on the trail or in the hut)
Billygoat Track for the return.
4pm (approx) - Finish hike then grab a hot or cold drink in Thames
5pm (approx) drive back to Auckland
7pm (appox) Back in Auckland for drop off at The Cloud
About the trail / risk disclosure:
Before booking this trip, please read more about the track here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/coromandel/places/coromandel-forest-park/things-to-do/kauaeranga-kauri-trail/
NOTE: This is an intermediate track with a LOT of uphill (in fact the whole thing is upill!), so a good fitness is required.

Note: yes this is a guided trip but is a collective experience with everyone 'pulling their weight' and helping to finish. We are in it together. This is great team building.
