GOOLUGATUP SOUNDS returns on Feb 16 with a beautifully unexpected pairing of inventive musicians in the Bunuru evening air.
For experimental music die-hards in Boorloo/Perth, EDUARDO COSSIO needs no introduction: the Peruvian-Australian musician performs and collaborates frequently on the improv scene, heads up the Difficult Listening radio collective and runs the essential Outcome Unknown concert series. Here, at his (arguably overdue) Goolugatup Sounds debut, Eduardo will be working magic with zithers, amplified objects, live sound-processing and more, showcasing his unique and open-ended musical language.
Ricocheting off Eduardo's distinctive soundscaping is genre-hopper KIM LIL, whose live performance and DJ sets have captivated audiences over recent years in Boorloo, Naarm/Melbourne and Tromsø, Norway. Under the aliases HNYMLK, Temperance, and as the charismatic frontwoman of duo Lo Vision, Kim has etched her name as an artist, singer, radio broadcaster, and nightclub DJ, amassing a diverse portfolio of collaborative ventures. For her set at GS17, she weaves in gothic synth-pop, doomy jazz, leftfield club sounds and - more than likely - plenty of surprises to boot.
If music isn't enough, expect sunset views, food from local providores, full bar and the opening of two stunning exhibitions - Tom Blake's 'thoughts are metallic they melt in salt water,' and 'The Longest Echo,' a collaborative show by Mayma Awaida and Emilie Monty.
