&
“BLACK AMERICAN WORKING WOMAN” A play by Paula Ralph-Birkett
“DEEP $H*T” by Liz Morgan
It's her five-year college reunion and the writing is on the wall for Liza when she ends up in a public restroom with no toilet paper. This comedic one-woman show inspired by the bathroom stall graffiti at Brown University interrogates our need to be seen, our failure to communicate and the deepness of our collective shit.
“BLACK AMERICAN WORKING WOMAN” by Paula Ralph-Birkett
BAWW centers on Tamika Johnson's journey to positive self-perception. Tamika struggles with negative self-perception, or “vacant esteem"; a [negative] belief about one’s worth transmitted from generation to generation through the family, community and society.” Tamika’s vacant esteem holds her back at work and consequently from reaching for her entrepreneurial dreams. This solo show invites us to journey with Tamika as she learns to break free of the ties that bind her greatness.
