Good Friday Solemn Worship gives us an opportunity to pause in the middle of the day to contemplate Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross. This day draws us near to those who suffer and offers us comfort that Christ is with us when we suffer. The service includes the Veneration of The Cross, an ancient practice in the church of praying before a bare wooden cross.
