Goh Ballet's The Nutcracker 2024 Polichinelle Open Auditions
We invite you to join the holiday favorite Goh Ballet's The Nutcracker . We are auditioning for the role of Polichinelle, the Bon Bons. An audience favorite, this dynamic part features gymnasts (artistic and/or rhythmic) and Acro performers.
Goh Ballet is seeking talented gymnasts and Acro performers who can embody the essence of the Polichinelle Bons Bons by bringing their charismatic talent, and gravity defying techniques to the stage.
Ideal for those with a background in gymnastics and Acro these auditions offer an incredible opportunity to be part of a cherished tradition and showcase your skills in one of the most iconic ballet productions of all time. Auditions will be held on Thursday June 13 at Goh Ballet Academy.
Audition date: June 13 (Thursday) | 5pm-6pm
Requirements: Ages 8-12, max height 5ft
Dress Code: Participant must audition in gymnastic wear and bare foot. With hair tied neatly in a bun. No jewelry or watches please.
Please be prepared to show: Front/back walkovers, split jumps, aerials and handsprings.
Please arrive at least 30 mins but no more than 1 hour before the audition start time for check-in and individual warm up.
Rehearsal arrangement:
Rehearsal will begin in mid-September. Availability for every Sunday between 4pm-6:30pm is mandatory.
A mandatory casting call will be held on either September 7 or September 8, 2024. All cast members who have accepted a role in Goh ballet's The Nutcracker 2024 are required to attend this casting call session. Roles may be relinquished from dancers not in attendance.
All cast members must be available for in-studio dress rehearsals between December 8 -15, 2024. Production week is scheduled from December 16 - 22, 2024 - the cast will be rehearsing and performing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. All cast members must be available every day for the dress rehearsal period and production week.
Audition Cancellation and No-show Policy
Please note that no refunds will be provided for cancellations or no-shows. Registered dancers who will miss the audition for any reason must inform us via email as soon as possible: [email protected].
A make-up audition may be scheduled later in the year, role subject to availability. Dancers that registered, but are unable to attend the first audition (June 13) due to last-minute illness or injury may transfer their audition fee to the makeup session only by providing a doctor's note.
Production fee
Dancers who are cast in Goh Ballet's The Nutcracker 2024 production are required to pay a $395 + GST non-refundable production fee which includes all rehearsals, performances, costume fittings, alterations and hair/head pieces. Please note that some roles require specific shoes and enhanced make-up items for an additional fee.
