About this Event

Taraigí le chéile chun éisteacht le Glór Bearú!

Join Siobhán de Paor (Wild Irish) and Maura Brennan (Acorn Project / Nore Vision) for a bilingual walk along the River Barrow, exploring how the Irish language connects us to indigenous ecological practices and knowledge that deepen our understanding of river ecosystems, community water stewardship, and the rights of rivers.

Tabharfaidh an siúlóid seo inspioráid, cleachtais éiceolaíocha, agus eolas daoibh - atá fréamhaithe sa Ghaeilge - This guided walk brings together inspiration, ecological practices, and knowledge rooted in the Irish language.

Ar feadh dhá uair, cuirfidh muid an ceist - conas is féidir linn aire a thabhairt dár n-uisce agus guth a thabhairt do chearta na habhann, go háirithe i dtaobh na bagairtí ó athrú aeráide agus imeachtaí drochaimsire.

During this two hour walk, we will ask the question - how we can care for our waters and give voice to the rights of the river in the face of increasing threats from climate change and extreme weather events.

Siobhán de Paor

Is file, scéalaí, scriobhnóir agus chéillúraí í Siobhán de Paor. Siobhán de Paor is a bi-lingual bard - poet, dramaturg, writer and celebrant. She teaches creative expression and land connection using Irish as a medium. Her mission is to reclaim our indigenous rites and articulate as Gaeilge a collective spiritual tradition that is truly representative of the mystical experiences of the Irish people. She is an outspoken advocate for maternity rights in Ireland and through her own story has highlighted the gross abuse of birthing women in the hospital system. She co-founded the Wild Irish initiative which creates the conditions for personal rewilding as Gaeilge.

Founded in 2017 by Diarmuid Lyng (hurler and facilitator) and Siobhán de Paor (poet and celebrant) in Corca Duibhne, Wild Irish curates events for adults and children in the form of retreats, workshops, wilderness camps and rituals rooted in the Irish language, indigenous culture and sharing of ancient skills. They create conditions in which people can reconnect with nature and our not-so-lost traditions. They’ve both been teaching Irish for the past two years in the Steiner School in Kilkenny.
