The Cheltenham & Gloucester Branch of the Western Front Association (CGWFA) is holding a free 'World War 1 Family & Military History ' pop-up event at St Michael's Tower, Gloucester on Saturday 30th May from 10am to 2pm. Anyone with an interest in WW1 history and/ or needing help with research is invited to drop in to the event where CGWFA members will be available to provide help along with valuable hints and tips. If visitors have details of any medals awarded and/or have copies of any commemorative certificates or pictures of the research topic, that information could also prove invaluable.
We would be delighted to tell visitors more about the work of the Western Front as well as assisting with research.
NB We may be able to help with other past conflicts as well but our focus is on WW1.
About the Western Front Association
The Cheltenham and Gloucester Branch is part of the national Western Front Association (WFA) which is a UK-based charity and educational organization founded in 1980 to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of all who served in the 1914-1916 Great War. It promotes study of the Western Front through digital archives (including Pension Records), publications, over 50 branches, and Remembrance events.
We hold meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 1930hrs and these are at The Ed Shed in Gloucester (part of the Folk Museum). Each month we hear from a wide variety of eminent speakers from all over the country on topics related to the Great War.
