FREE “Glorious Days and Nights: A Jazz Memoir” featuring Jazz photography by Herb Snitzer Presented by Something Special Sundays by Marilyn Ginsberg Eckstein.*Atlanta Premiere*
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon celebrating jazz, dance, and film, highlighted by the screening of Glorious Days & Nights: A Jazz Memoir, a film produced by Bob Judson. The film tells the story of Herb Snitzer, a visual historian and humanitarian who dedicated much of his life to capturing the essence of jazz legends like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, and many others. Through his lens, Herb also documented the societal disparities he observed, having faced prejudice as the son of Jewish immigrants.
In addition to the film screening, the event features a mini performance by Ballethnic Dance Company, presenting excerpts from Jazzing: Memoirs in Jazz, a dance work inspired by Herb's iconic jazz photography. The afternoon will conclude with a panel discussion featuring photographer and curator Tony Casadonte, jazz musician Joe Alterman, and filmmaker Bob Judson.
*Film is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Registration is required. Dessert reception included!
