Each Fall Semester, Globemed at GW has the privilege of hosting our annual Gala event at the George Washington University. Each year, we center this event around a global public health theme encompassing the topics we care most about as a global public health-oriented student organization partnered with Set Her Free, a grassroots non-profit organization located in Kampala, Uganda. This year (Fall 2025), our theme is Sowing Sustainability: Women, Climate Resilience, & Sustainable Communities.

This exciting event consists of an astounding panel of accomplished speakers from the local D.C. area which in past years has consisted of GW and Globemed alumni, GW faculty, and other professionals such as doctors, lawyers, public health practitioners, leaders in non-governmental and governmental sectors of public health, and more. This year, Gala is scheduled for December 5th, 2025 from 5:00-8:00pm in the Milken Institute of Public Health Convening Center located in the Milken Institute of Public Health. Dinner and refreshments will be provided. The dress code is formal attire.

OUR PARTNER: SET HER FREE Set Her Free provides girls and women with the education, vocational training, and rehabilitative services necessary to lead self-determined lives. The program not only provides a temporary residence and safe haven for its beneficiaries, but also offers formal education, technical training, counseling, medical care, mentoring, and resettlement opportunities; services geared toward giving young women the necessary tools for a healthy, stable, and independent future
