The Global Theory Club is a reading group that has been established in February 2023 within the Danish NGO Global Aktion. The goal of the group is to discuss the theoretical framework, goals and and ambitions of global solidarity work, which lie in an understanding of the long shadow of colonialism and the unbroken power disbalances between the Global North and the Global South.We meet every other Wednesday, 5 pm., to discuss classical and contemporary books and texts about global economy, postcolonial theory and development aid.
ON FEBRUARY 12th, we would like to invite you to our initial meeting on our NEW BOOK, ORIENTALISM by the Palestinian-US-American author Edward W. Said. We will also provide a short intro to the reading club as such.
If you can find time to prepare, you can have a look at the INTRODUCTION to the book (approx. 30 p.). But this is not a must and everybody is welcome 🙂
