Shimmies are an absolutely ESSENTIAL part of bellydance, an iconic movement that always "wow's" the crowd! And there are so many different types of shimmies - with different rhythms, emphasis, and timing. How do you know how to execute each one, and what about which ones are used in our beloved Global Caravan dance?
In this special technique-focused class, Misha will take you on a deep dive into the world of shimmies! You'll learn a variety of body movements in this family, and discover how to drill them to improve your technical expression of the movement. Packed full of drills, stretches, flossing, and more, Misha will help set you up for success to improve and expand your dance technique. And, of course, we will look at how this family is expressed in our Global Caravan Group Improv dance too, exploring everything from the Bicycle Shimmy to the Turkish Shimmy, to the turns and combos and more! We will even dust off some old classics, that aren't often taught, like the 1/6 Shimmy and the Heel Shimmy too! Get ready for a chance to shimmy and shine, sparking your love for this movement and improving technique so your shimmies will be your super power!
