A native son of the historic Tremé neighborhood, Andrews is more than a musician; he is a cultural torchbearer carrying forward the deep musical traditions of New Orleans at a time when those traditions face increasing pressure and change. His commanding voice and explosive trombone playing blend grit, warmth, vulnerability, and celebration into performances that are impossible to ignore.

Raised among the rhythms of second-line parades and brass band culture, Glen learned firsthand from legendary New Orleans musicians like Tuba Fats alongside his brother Derrick Tabb of Rebirth Brass Band and cousin Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. Touring professionally since the age of 14, he has spent decades refining a sound that fuses jazz, gospel, blues, funk, rock, and the electrifying energy of New Orleans street music.

Now leading his own powerhouse ensemble, Andrews delivers shows filled with beauty, humor, heartbreak, righteous anger, resilience, and hope,sometimes all in the same song. Whether he’s leading a deep groove, testifying through a ballad, or bringing the room to its feet with brass-fueled celebration, Glen David Andrews performs with complete honesty and heart.

A headliner at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and a featured artist at venues and festivals around the world, Andrews has shared his music at Lincoln Center, Tipitina’s, House of Blues New Orleans, Joe’s Pub, and beyond. His acclaimed recordings include Redemption and Portrait of the Treme Prince, and he is also featured on Galactic’s beloved track “You Don’t Know” from Ya-Ka-May.
