About this Event
Western Club member, Gillies Crichton spent over 36 years in the aviation industry having retired from AGS Airports Limited in 2024 and starting up a consultancy business, Resilire Assure Ltd., with a focus on risk management, business continuity, crisis management and auditing of airport rescue and firefighting services amongst other things.
His career saw his first 17 years spent in the Airport Rescue & Firefighting Service from a trainee firefighter at Edinburgh Airport through to his last seven years of his tenure as the Chief Fire Officer at Glasgow Airport.
On leaving the fire service, he then went on to become the Head of Assurance for the airport group as a member of their senior leadership team.This presentation is a personal experience on dealing with the terrorist attack at Glasgow Airport on 30 June 2007.
Gillies will provide the story on how, as part of the Crisis Management Team which he led, the team successfully reopened the airport in under 24 hours after the attack.The presentation will show the benefits of prior preparation and planning to ensure the resilience of your business and how that can affect how you are viewed by the media, your customers, and the public alike.
