Come and join us for a 12.5 mile canoe/kayak marathon on the Cedar River! Starting from City Park and ending at Ross Lake Park, this two day event celebrates outdoor recreation and the natural resources that define Gladwin County. Highlighting years of conservation efforts by the Gladwin Conservation District and local partners, this event will showcase the revitalization of the Cedar River and the ways that outdoor recreation can bring people together!This event is made possible by a number of local partnerships and the Gladwin County community. We welcome spectators and participants far and wide to share in the festivities and experience Gladwin County!
Friday: Kickoff Event
Gladwin City Park
5-8pm
What to expect:
Live music featuring Coleman Road Band, vendors, fundraiser dinner with Gladwin HS Travel Club and a bunch of fun activities for all ages!
Saturday: Race Day!
9am-10pm
Start @ Gladwin City Park, end @ Ross Lake Park
What to expect:
The 12.5 canoe/kayak marathon will begin with race heats beginning at 9am at Gladwin City Park. There will be concessions, crafts and activities, and vendors to help us start Race Day off right!
Cheer on your favorite paddler with spectator locations along the race route, and welcome them across the finish line 12.5 miles later in Beaverton!
Saturday afternoon, there will be a 25 Yard Dash Cardboard Boat Race at Ross Lake Park! Costumes are highly encouraged and the public will get the chance to vote on their favorite cardboard boats and costumes.
Winners of both the boat races and costumes will get a chance to get on the podium and receive a prize!
