It's a magical, mystery tour...um we mean a HYSTERICAL HISTORY TOUR! Stories Of The Corvallis Kinetic Race! Sponsored by the Graand Kinetic Challenge and the Benton County Historical Society.Join us at the Corvallis Museum on Saturday, June 13 for a behind-the-scenes look at the wonderfully wacky world of da Vinci Days' Graand Kinetic Challenge!
Before the talking begins, the art gets parked. Local kinetic sculptures will line the street outside the museum, hand-built, human-powered machines ready for their close-up. Inside, we’ll have a slideshow of past races, photos and memorabilia, tools of the trade, and plenty of kinetic lore to explore.
What to expect:
-A lively welcome and overview of how the race began (hint: it involves mud, imagination, and a whole lot of heart).
-The story of how today’s race is organized and powered by community.
-Local racers sharing how they built their machines, what broke (and was brilliantly fixed), and what it feels like to roll into glory.
-Time to mingle with racers, ask questions, inspect the vehicles up close, and maybe start dreaming up your own build…
BONUS: Artist Earl Newman will be signing hand silk-screened posters he created for the 2026 race! Special fundraiser from 11-12.
Whether you’re a longtime fan, a curious spectator, an engineer, an artist, or someone who’s always wanted to build something gloriously unnecessary, this is your invitation!
