Join us for a ceremonial experience of deep connection, movement, sacred prayer, and a heartfelt offering of love to Mother Nature.
We invite you to an enchanting evening of medicine music to celebrate the release of "Warmisita Encantada," the debut solo album by Daniela Riojas. Daniela is a curandera, medicine keeper, musician, artist, educator and founder of Intikhana Medicina, originally from the border of Texas and Mexico. As a curandera, she communes with Mother Nature and a lexicon of plants, animals, and energies through ancestral practices of channeling and meditation.
Daniela has undergone extensive training and Master Plant dietas with Indigenous elders, who have initiated her into the sacred practice of facilitation and healing in ceremonial spaces. Each song on this album was received directly from the jungle while dieting and reflects her internal processing with plant, tree, flower, and animal spirits, as well as all the spatial dimensions that unfold through communion with these medicines.
Daniela will present the album through a live performance, accompanied by musician and music producer Markandeya of Minuk, who also produced "Warmisita Encantada." In 2012, he began releasing music under his spiritual name, Markandeya, showcasing a more sound-oriented approach to his songwriting. In 2017, he began recording and touring with the Colombian singer Almunis (from Lulacruza). The husband-and-wife duo's first album Aurora (2020) was labeled "one of the best albums of 2020, and one of the best folk albums in years" - Higher Plain Music. Throughout his career, Markandeya has written and released over one hundred songs with Kultiration, Minuk, and Markandeya.
