What better place than the glorious Botanical Gardens to feature a new book, Girls Who Green the World: Thirty-Four Rebel Women Out to Save Our Planet, that celebrates young women crusading to save the planet? This all-ages event will center around journalist/author Diana Kapp, in conversation with author Leslie Roberts. Together they wlll explore the best ways for young women to make a difference, despite the odds. In praising the book, Mary Robinson (the first female president of Ireland and former UN human rights commissioner) said, "it is the can-do, hopeful book we need right now to promote youth action on our climate crisis.” FREE with admission to the gardens.

Diana Kapp is a journalist/author whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle ELLE, Marie Claire, MORE Magazine, O the Oprah Magazine, California Sunday Magazine, Sunset, and ESPN. Kapp’s first book, Girls Who Run the World, came out in October 2019.

Leslie Roberts is a professor at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Leslie is the author of Here Is Where I Walk: Episodes from a Life in the Forest, and The Entire Earth and Sky: Views on Antarctica. Leslie was the first Fulbright Fellow in the Antarctic Humanities and she is an affiliated researcher with the Humanities and Social Sciences Group/Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research.
