About this Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Texas-San Antonio Guest instructors: Sam Fonseca & Brittany Cline

Samantha Fonseca instantly fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu when she begabn her journey in 2014. Early on she founded BJJ Girls Mag, a pioneering portal specifically for women in Jiu-Jitsu. It was the only portal of its kind in Brazil and remains a space 100% dedicated to women in martial arts. Over the years, she has won titles such as São Paulo State Champion, South American Vice-Champion, and multiple IBJJF Open titles. She has also placed third at the Masters World Championship and Pan No-Gi and became the Dallas Grand Slam runner-up. This December, will mark her first year as a black belt. Now, living in the U.S., she not only competes but also teaches Jiu-Jitsu classes for women and children.

Brittany Cline is a former Division I collegiate athlete scholarship recipient and current mother of two little girls (ages 4 & 2). She has been training Jiu-Jitsu for over 10 years and currently holds the rank of two stripe brown belt under 2nd degree black belt, Professor Carl Cline. She is also a Silver - 2024 IBJJF World Master (Brown Belt, Master 2) and Gold - 2024 IBJJF Austin Open (Brown Belt, Master 2).
