Lindsey Boston is a black belt under Samir Chantre of Ares BJJ. She started training in August of 2013, along with her children and began competing just 2 months in! It was clear to her early on that there is a vast difference between sport jiu-jitsu and self-defense jiu-jitsu. She believes you truly can train jiu-jitsu from a self-defense aspect and apply it to competition successfully. However, she loves all aspects of the art.
Her passion for jiu-jitsu goes far beyond the competition mats. She owns her own academy Ares BJJ Reno where she prides herself on creating a safe space for all to learn jiu jitsu and guide and support each student on their desired journey. She is an extremely passionate and active advocate for women’s jiu-jitsu and has been a part of Girls in Gis since 2018.

Jamie Wright us a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under Samir Chantre of Ares BJJ. She first started training no-gi submission grappling in 2002, but ended up quitting shortly afterwards. She had a few starts and stops in the beginning of her jiu-jitsu journey, but since 2011, she has been training very consistently and in December of 2021 she earned her blackbelt. She has spent most of her years as a student of jiu-jitsu working alongside other instructors in kids classes and worked her way to become a kids class instructor. She currently teaches little kids ages 5-8 and together her and her husband teach the older kids class ages 9-14. She has competed a few times throughout her journey, but finds more joy and passion in teaching and guiding others. She sees so many benefits to training jiu-jitsu that she wants to share this art form with those around her. She recently graduated from a 200 hour yoga teacher training course, She enjoys sharing yoga with some of her jiu-jitsu students and teaching yoga classes to the community. she wants to continue to grow as a student and teacher and train this beautiful art for life.

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events which are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together and take over the mats! Women and girls of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend from any academy affiliation. We welcome beginners and don't require any experience. Our events are designed for 100% participation. However, we do allow parents or chaperone to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.
You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.
