About this Event

Join us at Claireville Conservation Area for an interactive Design Charette, where you’ll explore, imagine and propose ideas for a future sensory path.

As part of the Girls Can Too program, this hands-on workshop gives students in grades 7-12 the chance to learn how design works in the real world, and to contribute ideas that may help inform future project planning.

What is a Design Charette?

A design charette is a collaborative workshop where participants share ideas, sketch concepts, and problem-solve together. It’s about creativity, teamwork, and learning how community spaces are thoughtfully designed.

What You’ll Do

✨ Learn about the design process from concept to implementation

🌈 Discover what makes a sensory path engaging and inclusive

🌳 Explore the site during a guided outdoor walk

πŸ› οΈ Develop and present your own design ideas

πŸ“œ Earn up to 6 community service hours

Event Details

Who: Female-identifying youth in Grades 7–12

Date: Monday, April 6

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Location: Claireville Conservation Area - Field Study Centre (Check-in at the Field Study Centre building)

Participants will receive a confirmation letter documenting their volunteer hours.

Be Prepared

βœ” Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes (there will be a short outdoor component)

βœ” Bring a refillable water bottle

βœ” Pack nut-free snacks and a lunch (30-minute lunch break + short breaks provided)

βœ” All workshop materials will be supplied

Cancellation Policy

Minimum of 5 participants registered required for the event to run. Registrants will be emailed by 7:00am on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.

Girls Can Too provides female-identifying youth with hands-on learning experiences in construction and ecology. The program includes mentorship and training opportunities with females from a variety of professions.
