Join us at Claireville Conservation Area for an interactive Design Charette, where youβll explore, imagine and propose ideas for a future sensory path.
As part of the Girls Can Too program, this hands-on workshop gives students in grades 7-12 the chance to learn how design works in the real world, and to contribute ideas that may help inform future project planning.
What is a Design Charette?
A design charette is a collaborative workshop where participants share ideas, sketch concepts, and problem-solve together. Itβs about creativity, teamwork, and learning how community spaces are thoughtfully designed.
What Youβll Do
β¨ Learn about the design process from concept to implementation
π Discover what makes a sensory path engaging and inclusive
π³ Explore the site during a guided outdoor walk
π οΈ Develop and present your own design ideas
π Earn up to 6 community service hours
Event Details
Who: Female-identifying youth in Grades 7β12
Date: Monday, April 6
Time: 9:00 AM β 3:00 PM
Location: Claireville Conservation Area - Field Study Centre (Check-in at the Field Study Centre building)
Participants will receive a confirmation letter documenting their volunteer hours.
Be Prepared
β Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes (there will be a short outdoor component)
β Bring a refillable water bottle
β Pack nut-free snacks and a lunch (30-minute lunch break + short breaks provided)
β All workshop materials will be supplied

Cancellation Policy
Minimum of 5 participants registered required for the event to run. Registrants will be emailed by 7:00am on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.
About the Girls Can Too Program
Girls Can Too provides female-identifying youth with hands-on learning experiences in construction and ecology. The program includes mentorship and training opportunities with females from a variety of professions.
