About this Event
American ginseng is a high-value forest botanical with a long and illustrious history. It’s a native herbaceous species that occurs naturally in eastern decisuous forest understories of Appalachia. The plant is harvested for its medicinal root, and is threatened throughout most of its native range. This free workshop will help participants gain a fundamental understanding of how to cultivate and manage American ginseng, using basic forest farming practices, and will also include a planting demonstration.
This event is co-hosted by United Plant Savers and Rural Action.
