Hacking for the Holidays Makes Play Accessible for Kids With Disabilities!
Every child deserves to play. But for many kids with disabilities, toys can be hard to use independently, and commercially adapted versions can run upwards of $300. However, with a little bit of tinkering, we can switch-adapt toys and make them accessible for a fraction of the cost.
From September to December, we're engaging volunteers - students, corporate partners, and other community members - at buildathon events all across Canada, where we will make assistive switches and adapt toys for families and therapists across Canada.
In this event we will be testing toys and adaptive switches, and preparing them for shipping out to families.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided to volunteers.
