This program is designed for middle and high school band teachers seeking effective strategies to engage students in developing their skills in improvisation. The workshop will be led by noted musicians Dominick Farinacci and Steve Kortyka.
Workshop participants will explore practical methods for introducing improvisation, including scale-based exercises, chord progressions, and suggested songs to use at each stage of development.
The workshop leaders will demonstrate how to create a supportive classroom environment that develops students' unique voice and confidence. Teachers will gain hands-on experience with techniques that can be adapted for students at multiple skill levels.
Attendees can expect to receive resource materials and learn effective ways to coach students on how to develop a practice routine.
