This magnificent iconic venue is truly a ghost hunters treat. The provenance of this site is superb along with its paranormal activity which spans centuries.
Built for Sir Francis Willoughby between 1580 and 1588.
The Barons Middleton (1712–1925): A succession of eleven barons held the title while owning the estate.
Wollaton WWII - March to June 1944, the park was the base for the "Red Devils". US 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. These elite paratroopers trained here extensively before being deployed for the D-Day landings in Normandy.
In 1945, the park became a Prisoner of War Camp, housing roughly 4,000 captured German and Italian soldiers. Many of these prisoners were employed in local labor until 1947.
The hall provided a temporary home for over 1,000 Dunkirk evacuees and served and later as a relocated site for the Radford Boulevard Boy’s School during the conflict.
Ghostly occurrences have been reported for many years, since working with Wollaton Hall the Haunted Heritage team have had plenty of their own unexplainable moments.
