About this Event
CICADAS are the Chronically ill, Crip*, and Disabled Association of Scientists. CICADAS was founded in August 2024, born from reflection on just how tough it can be to be a disabled university student. Not only were some things physically and mentally more challenging, but there's a certain aspect of loneliness that comes with it, too; everyone has struggles in university, but when you're disabled, sometimes you really just need another disabled person to commisserate with. Somebody who gets it. And, at the same time, how tough it can be to go above and beyond and do more, read more, It can be exhausting, inaccessible, and just plain difficult to find resources for things you're interested in.
We're here to change that. Join us on September 21st for an introductory session with the CICADAS team, who will give a brief presentation about the organisation then open up for questions and talk about how to get involved. The session will be low-stress and casual; drop by for a few minutes if you're interested!
