Banned Book Week 2024

Many do not realize the implications and impacts of "banning" books, not only for children, but for all who believe in the Freedom of Speech.

Does this mean ALL books should be accepted by ALL?

Absolutely not. Unfortunately, with increase in self-publication, the market has been flooded with mediocre books that do not go through the rigorous editorial and fact-checking that goes into the creation of a book of excellence.

Especially in children's literature, there is added responsibility, which I have written on and continue to share.

About:

: Seek out and share books of excellence and guide authors in their craft.

Banned Books W**d:

Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools. Typically (but not always) held during the last week of September, the annual event highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community — librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas. @BannedBooksWeek
