This workshop is presented by the 2024 TAP Alliance.
About this Event

In this workshop, Community-Word Project Teaching Artists Dale Novella Anderson-Lee and Libby Mislan, will lead participants in a concrete session on building a teaching artist resume, enhancing interview skills, and practicing for the dreaded in-person teaching artist auditions. Don't worry! It needn't be scary. Applying for teaching artist gigs can be fun and help you figure out what organizations you actually want to work for. In addition to these concrete skills, participants will gain insight on where and when to look for teaching artist jobs.

About Your Faciltators

Dale Novella Anderson-Lee (TAP Co-Director)

Dale’s roots lie in South Carolina, where she performed as a singer-songwriter, curated events and managed local artists, co-writing and producing their projects. With all of her success she realized the need to grow. She moved to NYC in 2012 to continue her dreams as a songwriter and event curator. Dale’s message, mission and music are meant to create space, to raise the roof and your spirit, while bringing funk, soul and grooves with whatever she touches.

Dale’s seven years running open mic jam session, The Poet Will be Televised has brought some of the best and brightest independent talent that NYC has had to offer to numerous venues in the city for thousands of heads to enjoy as well as curating for the likes of Sofar Sounds and Amplified Voices for the East Harlem Health Action Center among others. Dale touched legendary stages such as A38 in Budapest, the Bowery Poetry Club, BB Kings, and Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC while touring in France, Germany, L.A., D.C., Chicago, Austin and Rotterdam. A Funkadelic Studio sponsored artist, Dale’s collaborators include Mandella Eskia, FYUTCH, Jade Zabric, Lea Anderson as well as her partner Mikal Amin with whom together form the group Where the Love is.

A certified Yogi and Teaching Artist with Community Word Project, The Dreamyard Project and Building Beats, Dale uses her gifts and skills as a musician, singer and yogi to help people find peace, express and connect with themselves and the world around them. Whether through song, meditation, or movement Dale Novella’s goal is to bring the world together in rhythm one beat at a time.
