Calling all poets! Looking to gain confidence with your performances? Ready to move beyond open mic’s and think about feature spots? Feeling in a rut with how you share your writing, live?Get Set, Go! Is a workshop designed to explore the best ways to share your work. In this three hour session, we will explore how we put together poetry sets, how we link and introduce poems, and what we can do to make a cohesive performance that shows you off at your best. We will also explore stagecraft as a route to enhance your words. With a mixture of exercises in the room and ideas you can take away with you, you will leave this session with new confidence in performing.
This session is led by Ben Macpherson. Ben is a poet, comedian and theatre maker who has been creating work since 2011. He has performed across the country at festivals including Latitude, The Edinburgh Fringe and many, many more. His work has been heard on BBC Radio 2, 4 extra and Local stations. Holly McNish described him as “An Absolute Delight” and Michael Rosen said he is “Full of Humour and Drive”
The session takes place at the Malt Cross on St James Street in the workshop space, underneath the main room of the pub. The room is accessible by a flight of ~10 stairs or an elevator accessed close to the bar (please ask venue staff for help if required.) The workshop room has an accessible toilet adjacent to it. There will be a short comfort break part way through the session.
