If you’re ready to dive into the art and science of coffee roasting, you’re in the right place — just not quite yet.
This is the waitlist event for Regent Coffee’s hands-on beginner roasting workshop, taught by Leon Nie, our founder and award-winning head roaster.
Whether you're a home brewer, specialty coffee enthusiast, or just coffee-curious, our roasting classes give you the skills to understand what happens between a green bean and your morning cup.
What You’ll Learn (when classes open)
• How roast level affects flavor and aroma
• What “first crack” sounds like — and why it matters
• How to cup coffee like a pro (body, acidity, finish)
• How roast profiles are created and adapted
What’s Included (when registered for a real class)
• Freshly roasted coffee to take home
• Flavor wheel & roast process handout
• Guided tasting notes and beginner roast sheet
Instructor
From Leon — Owner & Head Roaster, Regent Coffee
“I’ve been roasting since 2012—started on a home setup, then moved to a commercial roaster in my garage, and now to our current machine (which alone has logged over 4,360 hours and about 168,000 pounds). As a self-educated coffee roaster who’s never worked in another coffee shop, this is actually my first time teaching a roasting workshop. I’m honestly just excited (and a little nervous) to finally share what I’ve learned along the way. I’ll walk you through the process, answer your questions, and share everything I’ve picked up over the years. It’s been a fun ride—and still is. Come hang, let’s roast some coffee together.”
