Explore and learn what a greenhouse is, who works at a greenhouse, and what’s grown there with local artist Molly McLain. Students will learn about design thinking and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on, low-tech, creative way! They’ll have fun with materials, learn about materiality, and the environment around them.During class, they will create their own greenhouse and garden out of recycled materials, build with their hands, and learn about gardens, local food systems, and pollinator plants. Students will come away with a project to take home and a packet of seeds to plant at home in the spring/summer. The library will provide all materials for this class.
Through this project and discussions on greenhouse building and garden design, students will gain a tangible understanding of the concepts and processes involved in creating real-world structures.
Come and have fun, celebrate Earth Day week, and let your creativity soar!
