Harrisburg University invites high school students to an exciting, hands-on Geospatial Day designed to spark curiosity and introduce younger learners to the world of geospatial technology. This immersive event gives students the chance to explore cutting-edge tools, engage with HU’s STEM-focused programs, and discover the many career pathways available in this exciting and rapidly growing field.Throughout the day, participants will take part in interactive sessions led by HU faculty and students, including:
Hands-On Map Creation: Learn how geospatial professionals build, analyze, and interpret maps used across industries.
GeoInquiries: Dive into real-world geographic questions through guided digital investigations.
Field Maps: Explore mobile geographic data collection and how geospatial tools support decision-making in environmental science, public safety, and more.
Outdoor Drone Flying: Experience how drones are used for aerial mapping, surveying, and imaging.
Indoor Drone Flying: Test your piloting skills and understand the fundamentals of drone technology in a safe, indoor environment.
