About this Event
Chapel Archivist and Chapter Librarian, Kate McQuillian, will talk about King George III’s vision for St George’s Chapel as a place of worship and a Royal mausoleum, and explore some of the astonishing changes that were made to the Chapel during his reign.
After a break for refreshments and the chance to view manuscripts from St George's Chapel Archives, Julie Crocker, Senior Archivist at the Royal Archives, will talk about the records in the Royal Archives and Royal Library relating to the Georgian period, 1714-1837.
All profits from ticket sales will support the Adopt a Book conservation scheme. The scheme helps us to preserve the unique collection of rare books in the Chapter Library of St George’s Chapel, repairing the damage of centuries of dust, dirt, insects, and the inevitable wear and tear of use.
To learn more about the Adopt a Book scheme and how you can play a part in this vital conservation work, please see our website. https://www.stgeorges-windsor.org/archives/adopt-a-book/
This event will finish by 5pm and everyone is very welcome to attend Evening Prayer in St George's Chapel immediately following the event at 5:15pm. Just ask staff for directions.
